The Common Core State Standards
The Common Core
State Standards are the new learning standards that have been adopted by our
state and fully implemented into your child’s curriculum this year. These standards replace the Illinois State
Learning Standards. The mission of the
CCSS is:
“The Common Core
State Standards provide a consistent, clear understanding of what students are
expected to learn, so teachers and parents know what they need to do to help
them. The standards are designed to be robust and relevant to the real world,
reflecting the knowledge and skills that our young people need for success in
college and careers. With American students fully prepared for the future, our
communities will be best positioned to compete successfully in the global
economy.”
The Warrensburg-Latham School district is dedicated to ensuring that all parents and families are aware of the changes occurring in education and the implications in the classroom. We have held informational meetings for parents, with future meetings planned. The district also has information on the school's webpage about the CCSS.
Some additional
resources to help you become more familiar with the standards are linked below.
